“So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.”

- 1 Peter 1:14-15

Made In His Image

Made In His Image

We’ve all heard the expression “a picture is worth a thousand words,” but sometimes an artist or photographer can capture something that no words can describe. Think of a sunset in your favorite place, a star-filled night sky out in the country, the cool blues and grays of on-coming storm clouds. Think of the beauty and wonder of the world around us, the vastness of the universe, of all of God’s creation. God made the heavens, the earth, the plants and animals—everything we see—but none of those creations were made in His image. God reserved that honor for us.

“Then God said, ‘Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us.’” (Genesis 1:26a)

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10)

Like an artist’s greatest work, God calls us His masterpiece. Let this truth fill you with God’s joy. When people see us, we should bear to them the image of Christ. We are made in God’s image, so let’s make sure the world sees that.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
