Praying for Muslims
May 31st is an Islamic holiday called Layle al-Qadr which is translated many ways: “Night of Power,” “Night of Decree,” “Night of Value.” In Islamic belief, it is the night the first verses of the Quaran were revealed to Muhammad. On this day and all throughout the night, millions of Muslims around the world will be praying for visions and enlightenment. Why is this important for Christians?
“But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” (Matthew 5:44)
Visions and dreams are very important to Muslims and there have been many, many stories of conversion to Christianity that began with Jesus appearing in a vision or dream. Darren Carlson wrote an article for The Gospel Coalition a year ago featuring many stories of conversion from Islam to Christianity that started from dreams or visions. You can read that article by clicking here. There is power when God’s people pray.
“You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.” (Matthew 21:22)
“In those days when you pray, I will listen.” (Jeremiah 29:12)
“Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!” (Psalms 116:2)
On May 31st, please pray that Jesus will appear during this time when millions of Muslims are seeking visions and dreams.
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
